undying
In my third year of my studies at AMFI, I took the specialisation 3D Hypercraft. In 3D Hypercraft, the student gets the opportunity to explore 3D programs and learns to use technology in order to express their vision, while focusing on construction in relation to form, detailing and application. The student is challenged to develop their conceptual thinking and immersive storytelling skills, and submerge themselves in the process of creating a collection from start to finish.
For this project, I chose to design a collection for the brand Simone Rocha.
2023

Through extensive research and experimentation, I developed a fully digital collection, including a unique avatar for each look, and I created all the textiles from scratch. I used AI image generators to create the prints and motifs used. Alongside the collection, I designed a community app prototype and developed an AR try-on filter for each look in the collection. My objective with this project was to research how a brand like Simone Rocha can utilise technology in order to drive connection within their brand community, and how they can translate the fabrication of textiles to the digital world of fashion.

This project serves as a testament to the sacrifice that is inherent to womanhood, and celebrates the strength in vulnerability, the power of community, and the undying resilience and adaptability of femininity. Sacrifice has historically been idealised as a symbol of femininity and has served as an important patriarchal device to keep women oppressed. However, many women exhibit remarkable resilience while navigating the challenges associated with womanhood, and through community we have been able to drive positive social change and progress towards greater gender equality. This collection invites the viewer to reflect on the sacrifice that has defined the feminine experience through the ages, and celebrate the strength in womanhood and female community.
