For the minor Fashion & Visual Culture, I created a photo series titled Sea, Swallow Me. During the Fashion & Visual culture minor, the student develops a personal visual style and learns to create innovative, meaningful fashion images and films. This programme immerses the student in visual culture in the broadest sense of the word. It familiarises the student with the language of imagery, both technically and conceptually.
Sea, Swallow Me

During this period, I developed my storytelling skills as I worked on world- and character building. I learned to communicate my story and its underlying message through imagery, and the technical skills to create these images.

In my story, a young woman named Ophelia seeks refuge in the aquarium as she grapples with her feelings of alienation and confinement. Amidst the artificiality of the aquarium, the trapped sea animals slowly become a reflection of Ophelia’s state of mind, until she decides to join them in their tank.
